Bug Club
What is bug club?
Bug Club is Jitterbug’s morning drop-off program for potty-independent children ages 2.5–5. Designed with care and creativity, Bug Club blends music, movement, art, and imaginative play to support your child’s early development in a joyful, nurturing environment. It’s the perfect first step into the world of group learning — with just the right amount of structure, and a whole lot of heart.
more than play.
At this stage, kids learn best through hands-on exploration, repetition, and connection — and that’s exactly what Bug Club is built on. Our program is rooted in play-based learning and social-emotional development, helping children gain confidence, practice communication, regulate emotions, and build the independence they’ll carry into school and beyond. We keep things low-pressure and child-led, allowing each child to grow in their own beautiful way. We also believe in the power of gentle mindfulness woven into their day. Whether it’s a few deep breaths after movement or a quiet story break, these small pauses help build self-awareness and emotional resilience in a playful, accessible way.
Creative, Hands-On Learning
Art, music, storytelling, and play form the foundation of every Bug Club day — helping kids explore, express, and engage with the world around them. At Bug Club, we believe that young children learn best by doing — through paint-covered hands, rhythm games, dress-up corners, and free play that lights them up from the inside. Each day is designed around rich, sensory experiences that support fine motor development, language skills, self-expression, and imaginative thinking. From art projects to music-making, we offer open-ended opportunities where there’s no “right” way — just the joy of discovering what feels true for them.
This kind of learning builds early brain pathways and allows children to become confident, curious problem-solvers — not just students who can sit still, but kids who are alive in their learning.
Rooted in Child Development
Our approach is built on play-based learning and social-emotional growth — giving your child tools that support their journey far beyond the classroom.
Bug Club is intentionally structured around play-based and child-led methodologies, inspired by both developmental research and the lived experience of working with hundreds of young children. Rather than pushing academic goals too early, we prioritize the foundational skills that unlock long-term growth: self-regulation, independence, emotional awareness, social negotiation, and the ability to follow curiosity with focus.
This isn’t just about having fun (though we do that, too!) — it’s about building the internal readiness that sets the stage for confident learners and resilient humans.
small groups, big connection
We keep our groups small so that each child is truly known — not just supervised. This creates a safe and emotionally secure environment where kids feel confident enough to take risks, try new things, and form meaningful connections with peers and trusted adults.
Our staff are trained to observe, support, and adapt in real time — helping children move through moments of frustration, shyness, or transition with warmth and presence. These little moments of connection aren’t extras — they’re the foundation. And they’re what help our bugs grow into bold, bright butterflies.
bug club details
-
Bug Club runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and follows a semester-based schedule. Families register for the full semester (fall or spring), with the option to sign up for the full academic year if preferred. This consistency supports strong relationships, smoother routines, and deeper growth for your child.
-
Bug Club is designed for children ages 2.5 to 5 who are fully potty independent. This age range allows us to focus on social-emotional development, play-based learning, and gentle transitions into group settings.
-
Each day includes a mix of music, movement, art, sensory play, story time, imaginative exploration, and social interaction. We follow a flexible rhythm that gives structure while still honoring the natural flow of energy and attention at this age.
-
Yes — but it’s not academic in the traditional sense. Bug Club is rooted in developmentally appropriate, play-based learning, supporting essential early skills like communication, collaboration, creativity, and emotional regulation. When children feel safe, supported, and connected, they naturally build the confidence and independence that make later learning easier and more joyful.
-
We do! Transitions are supported with gentle mindfulness practices like breathing exercises, body awareness games, and grounding rituals. These simple tools help children feel calm, centered, and empowered — even at a very young age.
-
Bug Club is intentionally small. We keep our class sizes low to ensure each child receives individual attention, personalized support, and meaningful relationships with peers and teachers. The class ratio is no more than 12:2.
-
Totally normal — and we’re here for it. Our staff are experienced in helping children transition gently and with care. Most children adjust quickly with consistent routines, loving redirection, and lots of patience. We’ll always communicate with you and support your child through the process.
-
Bug Club is not a drop-in program. Enrollment depends on availability. If we have space, you’re welcome to join mid-session. Reach out and we’ll do our best to accommodate your family’s needs.
-
Bug Club tuition is $1,500 per semester or $2,750 for the full school year (a savings of $250). The program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through May, following the Cobb County School District calendar for holidays and breaks.
We offer semester-based registration, so families can choose to commit to just the fall or go ahead and secure their spot for the full year. Space is limited and is expected to fill, so early registration is encouraged!
