At Jitterbug, our productions are about belonging before brilliance. Every child is seen, supported, and celebrated — whether they are front and center onstage or building the magic behind the scenes.
The Little Mermaid Jr. continues our long‑standing Jitterbug tradition of ensemble‑first storytelling, confidence‑building rehearsal processes, and joyful collaboration. This is not just a show — it’s a shared creative journey.
Ages 6–15 are welcome to participate in cast, crew, or both.
CAST
Students perform onstage as part of our Junior Cast (ages 6-10) or Senior Cast (ages 11-15). Roles include leads, featured characters, and ensemble.
crew
Students help bring the world of The Little Mermaid Jr. to life through sets, props, costumes, and backstage support — while still being creatively involved in the storytelling.
Important Note for Families
If your student is interested in doing both cast and crew, we strongly recommend completing Crew Part 1 in the spring and then joining the cast in the summer. Balancing cast rehearsals and crew meetings simultaneously can be a lot, and this approach sets students up for success.

Frequently Asked Question
“If my child doesn’t get the role they auditioned for, will they still be cast?”
YES! Absolutely.
The Little Mermaid Jr. has many roles, and we are committed to filling every single one. Auditioning for a specific character helps us understand your child’s strengths — it does not limit their opportunities.

did you know we offer scholarships?

If financial circumstances would otherwise be a barrier, we encourage you to reach out. Our goal is always to meet families with care, respect, and discretion while keeping our programs accessible to the community we serve.
