As parents, we try the very best to make sure that our children succeed. What is your child destined for? Greatness, of course! But did you know that greatness is built on confidence? Knowing you can overcome obstacles and achieve greatness is the foundation for success. Kids need encouragement and skill building outside the home as well. So what type of children benefit from the performing arts? ALL OF THEM!
The Shy Child or Quiet Child that needs a boost of confidence, to know that their voice and opinion is important. The Outgoing Child or Strong Willed Child that needs structured play and an outlet for their imaginative and opinionated mind. The Perfectionist Child or Sensitive Child that needs help taking constructive feedback and working with others. The Serious Child that needs some serious fun or the Imaginative Child that needs a place where their imagination can soar!
All children are different, but every type of child can benefit from performing arts. Whether your child grows up to be an engineer, lawyer, teacher, doctor, chef, accountant, librarian, artist, banker or any other profession they will need public speaking skills. They will need creativity, imagination, confidence and all the additional skills performing arts harnesses and develops.
When’s the best time to get them started? When they’re young! Why let them get to high school or college and be afraid of group projects or speeches? It’s easier to instill confidence, problem solving, dedication and other invaluable traits before kids enter the stage where peers influence the most. Build their confidence now so they can be true to themselves as they get older.
At Jitterbug, one of our greatest joys as performing arts educators is when we see our students go from tears of fear to smiles filled with joy, sometimes in as little as a couple weeks! We’re taking children and building them into the next generation of confident, creative adults! What if one class a week now can make a huge impact later?
