Tuesday and Wednesday were full of classic storybook fun! We learned all about Peter Pan, Captain Hook, the Lost Boys, Charlie, Willie Wonka, and a whole cast of characters! The Jitterbug teachers love when the kids come in excited about the story of the day. They accomplish so much each day!
The kids came in on Wednesday ready to explore the wonderful world of Willie Wonka! We talked about our favorite candies and what separates a good nut from a bad nut!
To enter into the factory, each child had to find a golden ticket. Well Ms. Emily's class made their own! They even got to create their own yummy chocolate bars! These mini-performers learned how to work with props and share the props throughout the show!
Mrs. Ashley's class took what they knew of Charlie and the Chocolate factory and created a script for their performance! Each child chose a character and helped write their lines! Look for these awesome kids to be on the big stage soon!
During camp, the kids have the opportunity to created set and prop pieces. Sometimes that even includes pieces that extend into the lobby. Yesterday, Mrs. Ashley's class created a consession stand that sold all types of candy!
This week production has a special job. Each day they hear a new story, write their own script, decide on the run of their show, and find props and costumes! It is quite a task but everyday they rise to the challenge!
Check back for more exciting Broadway fun!
Do you know how many Broadway musicals are based on books? These kids are learning all about the famous musicals that were originally books! Everyday we learn about the story and talk about the who, what, when, where, and why. They then perform their songs and dances while communicating to the audience the stories!
For each performance, the class has the opportunity to design and create an original backdrop! Ms. Marisa's class took inspiration from their song Revolting from Matilda!
These revolting children discovered that they had the power to change their story! They have such bright imaginations and we can't wait to see how they'll change the world!
Check back throughout the week to discover more musicals based on books!
