Today we launched Jitterbug Summer Camp 2016 with "Welcome to the Jungle" week! We pretended to be all sorts of different animals, made some super cool costume pieces and props, and learned some jungle-fied choreography!
Craft time was a blast! We enlisted the help of our Jitterbug campers to help us create the foliage of the jungle and each leaf was just as unique as the child who made it!
We love to end our days at Jitterbug with a confidence boosting game of Round of Applause where each camper tells the person next to them something they did well that day. Not only does it help them review what we learned that day, but also gives everyone a nice dose of warm, fuzzy feelings! We finish it with, you guessed it,
a round of applause!
But Wait, there's more!
Today, Miss Ashley had her class go on a scavenger hunt around the studio to find unusual objects that could be used as instruments! How cool is that!? Our Jitterbugs creatively incorporated those found musical instruments into a dance piece.
What a great first day of summer camp! We know tomorrow is going to be even better!
See you at the studio

It's a big week here at the Jitterbug Studio! As our classes wind down towards the end of the semester we have quite a week dedicated to celebrating all of their hard work and practice, concluding with spectacular shows!
We kicked off our performances with a musical review of Broadway Showstoppers from our bugs at Covenant Christian Academy! They worked on perfecting their dance moves and singing out loud!
On Saturday, our Triple Threat Company gave an awesome performance showcasing their monologues and songs they've worked on all semester!
Our TuTu Cute ballerinas showed off their new skills and fancy footwork while having tons of fun and being absolutely adorable! They focused on learning right from left and the difference between flexed feet and pointed toes!
Our Jr. Bugs and Jitterbug Kids rocked the stage with pieces from Broadway Musicals from around the world! During class they built props, designed costumes, learned dance moves, and even mastered the lyrics to their songs!
The Jr. Bugs learned a piece from "The Lion King," "Annie Get Your Gun," and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"!
The Jitterbug Kids class worked on pieces from "The Fiddler on the Roof," "The King and I," and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"!
Of course, what show could be complete without a dance including the parents, friends, and siblings?! Shall We Dance?
Thank you so much to all the friends and family that came out to support our budding stars! They were so wonderful and we enjoyed having them in our class this semester! Check out our summer camps for more fun and excitement!
