The last day of Spring Break camp is bittersweet, they had an amazing show, but unfortunately on Monday all our campers will be going back to school. We actually had multiple campers say that they would like Jitterbug to replace their regular school, but the Jitterbug Gang isn't nearly as good at math as we are at dancing :)
Today was all about Seuss! We had some monkeys from the Jungle if Nool, and all our campers sang about going to Solla Sollew! The crafts we did today were Monkey Puppets who got to hang on a tree made out of this weeks doodling craft paper, and the other class made some ships that got to sail on the waves to Solla Sollew. Both crafts made a wonderful backdrop for the final show!
Today, our Jitterbugs worked super hard to put together a performance from some of our favorite musicals like Grease and Annie. Team Grease crafted a vinyl record (which we had a fun time educating these youngins about that old timey technology) and a poodle to put on their poodle skirts. They also learned some adorable choreography to "Born to Hand Jive" and "Greased Lightnin". Team Annie got down and dirty with some greasy face paint to give them that authentic orphan look, made Sandy paper bag puppets, and learned some choreography to "You're Never Fully Dressed" and "Hard Knock Life".
We had an amazing day looking at musicals based on books by Roald Dahl: Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach!
One class did Willy Wonka, where they made their own golden tickets and did a dance to the song titled "Golden Ticket".
Our second class looked at James and the Giant Peach, where they made some adorable peaches and danced to "That's the life for me".
Finally both classes came together and sang "When I Grow Up" from Matilda. We spent all day talking about what we wanted to be when we grew up. Here are some of our favorite grown up things: scientist, master builder, lego engineer, and a princess!
