They came in as excited campers and left as ROCK STARS.
Throughout the week, our students worked tirelessly to put together a fantastic show this afternoon! They all learned the importance of cooperation/teamwork, focusing, trust and some really cool rock trivia.
Miss Emily's TURBOS (Ages 3-4) each learned the names of their classmates and some names of rock icons! They learned that Freddy Mercury of Queen didn't like to ride bicycles. And you'll be shocked to know that if you asked which rockstar had a custom guitar named Frankenstrat, they'll proudly proclaim, "VAN HALEN!"
Miss Emily's class tie-dyed and cut their t-shirts into classic rock costumes, made their own speaker boxes, records and put on a show that made us all want to get up and "Twist and Shout!"
Mrs. Ashley's Jitterbug Generation (Ages 5-8) reminded us all about the best part of this time of year: "School's Out for Summer!" Her class worked on finding the beat in music and memorizing choreography (with little teacher help) in a jiffy! Her class made custom guitars, tie dyed costumes, speakers and records too. Many of our campers also helped design a truly unique jukebox.
One of our favorite things about this week was our exercise in listening to music and "painting sounds." We encouraged them to close their eyes, listen carefully to different genres of music and paint what the music felt like. Well done, campers! We can't wait to see you back!
